Who We Are
New York’s Policyholder Advocates
Insurance companies have adjusters representing their interests. A public adjuster’s responsibility is to represent the property owner.
We help inspect property damage, organize claim documentation, prepare supporting information, and communicate with the insurance carrier throughout the claim process.
Our goal is to help property owners understand their claim and properly present damage that may be covered under their policy.

Public Adjuster FAQ
About Working With a Public Adjuster
01 What does a public adjuster do?
A public adjuster helps a policyholder prepare and present a property insurance claim. That can include reviewing the policy, inspecting damage, organizing estimates and records, and communicating with the insurance carrier.
02 Who does a public adjuster represent?
A public adjuster represents the insured property owner, also called the policyholder. An insurance company adjuster represents the insurer.
03 What is the difference between a public adjuster and an insurance company adjuster?
The difference is who they represent. A public adjuster works for the policyholder, while an insurance company adjuster evaluates the claim for the insurer.
04 When should I contact a public adjuster?
You can contact a public adjuster soon after property damage, before filing if possible, or while a claim is already open. The right timing depends on the loss, the policy, and the current claim status.
05 Can I hire a public adjuster after filing an insurance claim?
Yes, a policyholder may be able to hire a public adjuster after a claim has been filed. The adjuster can review the work completed so far and identify documentation that may still be needed.
06 Can a public adjuster help with an existing claim?
A public adjuster can often assist with an open or disputed claim by reviewing the policy, damage documentation, estimates, and communications. Available options depend on the facts and claim status.
07 Do you handle residential and commercial property claims?
Yes. We assist with residential and commercial property claims involving fire, water, storms, vandalism, theft, and other losses that may be covered by the policy.
08 What areas of New York do you serve?
We serve property owners throughout New York, including New York City’s five boroughs, Long Island, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County.
09 How does a public adjuster get paid?
Public adjusters are commonly paid a fee based on the insured’s recovery. In New York, the amount and terms must be stated in a written compensation agreement and are subject to state law.
